Comparle

One word from another language every day, the same word for everyone. You do not guess letters; you work out where the word comes from and what it means. Four rounds. Each shows four answers on a radar, one at each compass point, and you place a dot.

• Round 1 is always the language; rounds 2 to 4 ask about the word: its feeling or literal sense, where you would hear it, what it means.
• Sure? Tap an answer. Torn? Put your dot between two. A hedge scores less than a hit and more than a wrong pole.
• Up to 125 points a round.

Help costs points: peek at other players' dots for half the round, listen to the pronunciation for 30. The last word. After four rounds you may stake your score by typing what the word means, in one English word.

• A hit doubles it, a small typo is fine. Close gives x1.5. A miss halves it. Or keep what you have.
• Buy back the rounds' answers: first free, then 25, 50 and 75 points.
